On Sunday, November 23, I decided that I would take my mom with me to a WalMart to find a family in need. We went to the WalMart on Copper and Eubank around 4:00 that afternoon. It was quite cold due to the wind that day. We walked into the market side of WalMart. Very quickly, we saw a woman and a man with two small children. What we noticed right away was neither of the adults had jackets or sweaters. They were both wearing light weight, short sleeve shirts that one would wear in the summer. They were with a little boy, about 3 years old and a small child in the basket. Both my mom and I thought they were probably the grandparents. My mom approached them and spoke to them in Spanish. Their names were Hector and Anna. They were waiting for their daughter as she was the mother of the two children to purchase the items with food stamps. My mom explained to them about Payday and Angels on the Streets. They were both so appreciative! Anna cried and hugged both my mom and I. Needless to say, my mom derived a tremendous amount of satisfaction by going with me. She said that she wanted to do it again next year!
