Jolissa Landeros’ Story

Over this past weekend my partner and I were out doing some Christmas shopping for our kiddos. Im a
very observant person when I go out in public, always watching my surroundings and such. I noticed this
older gentleman grabbing things then mumbling things to himself then kept putting the stuff back on the
shelf. I told Isaac I think this might be our Angel person just because of the feeling I was getting. So, I
went down the aisle he was in trying to carry small talk. When I see him again picking up some type of
toy and putting it back down once again as I assumed he was looking at the price. So, Isaac and I had
made a comment out loud “I don’t know why everything has to be so expensive this year” to which he
heard and giggled and said “Imagine shopping for 6 grandkids and a new grandkid on the way”. Isaac and
I instantly looked at each other and just started make small talk with this gentleman. We found out his
name was Ignacio, he is originally from Veracruz, Mexico. He has 2 boys, Eberardo, Alvero, and 1 girl
Estelle. He’s been married over 41 years, has been in the states for 9 years, while his wife is back home
taking care of her mother. He’s been in and out of work so gets by with that he can. Isaac, myself, and
Ignacio were talking as if we knew him for years. Our conversation lasted a good 20 minutes in this store.
After Isaac and I told him what we did for a living I thought it was a good time to start parting ways
before we did, I explained what Angels on the Street was and why we were doing it. I handed him the
envelope and Isaac added another $150 to that. At first, he kept declining because he felt bad to which I
explained to him again the purpose and the cause. Isaac and I both insisted on him taking this and told
him he gets those grandkids exactly what they want. He just thanking us over and over. He said “When
its my time to give, I will think of you two”. We then hugged and parted ways. We continued to shop a
little more then right after we checked out and we were heading out of the store, he stopped us and said
“look at this, this is because of you and your works generosity”. We smiled and said God Bless and went
on about our day.
