At the preschool my kid attends, there’s a 20-year-old Assistant Teacher. We’ll call her Sarah for the sake of privacy. I recently learned that she has to support her younger sisters and pay all the bills. Their mom abandoned them a year ago and is only sporadically heard from. The father is also barely in the picture. They’ve been without heat, having car issues and Sarah was going to have to skip presents for Christmas. I decided to give my Angel on the Street money to her in the hopes that it helps ease Christmas time just a bit. She’s always been extremely hard-working and friendly. Talking to her you’d never know how much she’s doing for her family and how hard it is back home for her. It’s a reminder that you never really know what struggles someone is going through.
