Jen’s Story: Being an Angel for an Angel

The woman Jen chose for her Angel Gift had spent many Christmases being an Angel herself.  Each holiday season, her recipient had used her own passion for photography to take holiday family photos as a fundraiser for a family in need. During a past holiday season, Jen had given this same woman her envelope to pass along to her own chosen family, so the recipient was already familiar with the story of Angels on the Streets.

This year the recipient and her husband were blessed with a son, Oliver, who was born at only 26 weeks. Oliver spent several months in the NICU.  Before his birth, his mother was on bedrest and unable to work, using up the leave she had planned to reserve for when the baby came home.  Once Oliver was healthy enough to be home, she and her husband found themselves struggling with the bills and medical expenses that had become past due from her time out of work.

Jen stopped by her recipient’s house on Friday evening to give her the envelope. As soon as she saw the Angels on the Streets sticker, she started crying in relief.  Jen told her that she had spent so much of her time and effort to be an Angel for others, she deserved her own Angel.  As Jen related, “I am so thankful that Payday HCM allowed me the chance to help her relieve even a little bit of the pressure so she can spend her holiday happy with her family!”
