I chose to donate to Paws and Stripes, a non-profit organization in Rio Rancho which is one-of-a-kind and located in New Mexico.
They match local shelter dogs with vets suffering from PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injuries to assist them in their daily lives and to help overcome the ongoing effects on these issues.
The vets choose their own dogs from a pre-screened group of shelter dogs and with help from a professional trainer, they are involved in every aspect of the program, which lasts an average of 9-12 months. The Program is funded through grants and donations; vets are never obligated to pay a penny of the program’s costs.
I met with Shawn Bacoccini, Dir. of Development and explained our Program, Angels on the Street and gave him my donation. He said they have several participants that are in need of assistance whom could greatly benefit from this gift.
Their motto is: “We believe in saving lives, together, two at a time.”
