I picked Mission Avenue Elementary school to give to. I have witnessed, in the last year and a half, several children and families that seem in need. Some examples of children walking to school from a nearby rent-by-week hotel, parents crying because their hours had been cut at work, etc.
I was directed to the School Councilor and she gave me the various options for where we could give the money to. I was happy to hear the school had been adopted by a local church and they would provide Thanksgiving to forty families. She said she didn’t feel the need was so strong in this area because the Church was awesome. She mentioned the Clothing Closet and said they are always in need of underwear and socks. But that she had a list of children that needed shoes. She felt that was where the money would help most.
She said Payless Shoes would give them a pair of shoes for every one that was purchased. So I felt good that the donation would be doubled. She promised to take a picture of each of the childrens’ feet in the shoes that receives a pair of our shoes and email it to me. They were extremely grateful and asked for Payday’s address to send a thank you card.
What an inspiring experience!
