I asked my friend Ken Madden from US Bank if he knew anyone that $100 would make a big difference in their life and he suggested Kathie Encinas. Kathie has a daughter that is incarcerated and has 4 boys; 3 of which Kathie is raising. The older boy is being raised by Kathie’s son in Arizona.

Kathie is working at McDonalds and has a minimum wage income. The three boys she is raising range in age from 8-11. The oldest one plays YAFL football. Kathie struggles financially and just putting food on the table is a challenge for her.

I presented the Angel envelope to her on a Friday afternoon after she got off of work and went to the bank to cash her paycheck. She was overcome with emotion and gratitude. She could not stop hugging me and thanking me. She said she has a few things on layaway at Walmart for the boys for Christmas and that this is what she is going to use the money for.
