I decided I wanted to do something to help the homeless in this city. Instead of giving out the money I decided to I wanted to do something for Project Share, a non-profit organization, that helps feed and clothe the homeless 6 nights a week.
I gave them a call and told them a little bit about the gift I was given, and told them I wanted to share it with them. I asked them what they are in most need of. They told me they really needed blankets because it is starting to get really cold outside. They also told me they needed a lot of hygiene products. I wish I would have been recording the phone call because you could just hear the excitement and joy in her voice when I told her that I wanted to help. It was priceless.
So the next day Josh and I went and bought 5 fleece blankets, 20 toothbrushes, 10 toothpastes, 10 deodorants for both men and women, razors, wipes for babies, and some packets of tissue. By doing this we felt so amazing that we were given this opportunity to help we decided we wanted to go through our closets and give away some of the clothes we had but never really wore. We each filled up a black trash bag full of pants, shirts, and jackets.
We went down to Project Share Saturday night before they were about to open for food service and we told the manager what we were given and he was just thrilled and so appreciative of what we had done. They were in desperate need for hygiene products and we were so happy that we could do that for them. Unfortunately, they weren’t accepting anymore donations for clothes because they have a whole storage full of clothes. Which was fine because we had 2 trash bags full of clothes and were able to help another organization out. We decided we were going to take the clothes to big brother and big sister. We know the clothes will really be appreciated by the next person who puts a jacket over their head!
Thank you so much Andy and Sylvana for giving us the chance to make someone’s day!
