A good friend Stephanie works with hospice and visits many families at home to help care for them. She told me about an elderly couple Pedro and Mary Andrade. Mary has caregivers through Medicaid and is on Hospice and is wheelchair bound. Pedro just went through surgery and is need of special care also. They have no family support and very little money for toiletries and everyday items that they even reuse items that shouldn’t be.

Hearing their story really crushed me knowing that this poor elderly couple is struggling in their health and finances. Stephanie tells me she personally brings them food and other supplies from the kindness of her heart but these are still not enough for them. I feel happy that Payday is being so generous to give to the community. Elderly couples are often forgotten about so deciding to give the 100 bucks to them was easy. The couple started giggling like a child on Christmas and it warms my heart knowing that they have a little less to worry about.
